Our Story
A lifelong love of Shelties
We have been devoted to Shelties for over 20 years, beginning our journey with a rescue from Sheltie Rescue of Central Indiana, followed by four more beloved adoptions. Over the years, this incredible breed captured our hearts with their intelligence, loyalty, and gentle nature.
As our passion grew, we became especially drawn to the beautiful merle coloring and set out to find a blue merle with sable. Unfortunately, our experience took a heartbreaking turn. Although our boy was stunning and had the sweetest disposition, we soon discovered he had been improperly bred and was deaf. We committed ourselves to learning how to communicate with him and ensured he lived a full, happy life.
Tragically, at just nine months old, we learned he also suffered from a severe congenital condition — his kidneys had not developed properly. His decline was sudden, and there was nothing that could be done. Losing him so young was devastating. In his memory, we made a promise to advocate for responsible breeding and to help prevent others from experiencing the same heartbreak.
After the loss of our beloved Sloashy — the dog whose nickname, Skoshie, lives on in our kennel name — we eventually felt ready to welcome another Sheltie into our lives. As we searched for quality sable merles to responsibly breed, we quickly realized how many scams, unethical practices, and irresponsible breeders exist.
Our puppies are raised underfoot, in the heart of our home. They are introduced to children, adults, other animals, and the sounds and rhythms of everyday life. By the time they leave for their new homes, they are confident, curious, and ready to bond with their families.
Home-Raised
Our puppies are born and raised inside our home, surrounded by family life from day one. They are handled daily and exposed to normal household sounds, routines, and people.

Health
Our Health Standards
Our breeding dogs receive appropriate health screenings — including eye exams (CAER), MDR1 genetic testing, and other evaluations relevant to the Sheltie breed — to support the long-term health and temperament of our puppies. We are happy to share health testing details and answer any questions about our program.
